 Sussex Shores Water Company , established in 1956, is an investor-
owned water utility system that supplies water on a retail basis
to customers in Sussex County , Delaware. An investor -owned company
is a corporation organized and managed by a Board of Directors and
funded by stockholder capital investment short-and/or long term dept.
Because it is a utility , SSWC's rates and financial
matters are regulated by the Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC).
SSWC's service areas, water pumpage, well permits, production limits,
ect. are regulated by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental
Control (DNREC). In addition , SSWC's operations are also overseen
by the Delaware Health and Social Services (DHSS), Division of Public
Health , and other government agencies.
